They merely require insertion of the tube into the complete assembly until the tube bottoms-out against the fitting body. By turning the nut clockwise and creating a mechanical force, the two ferrules are driven forward between the nut and fitting body. The back ferrule is in turn driven against the tapered rear of the front ferrule and the front ferrule is driven straight into the tapered body’s mouth. The rear ferrule is swaged radially inwards on the tube, whilst raising the front ferrule out to form a full-faced seal on the tapered body’s surface. The 11/4 and 3/4 turn (depending on their size) of the nut from the hand-tight position, guarantees consistent drive of the sealing parts. This seamless process assures the definitive seal against any high-pressure and ultra-high vacuum conditions.
